ResourceLinC was provided with the unique opportunity to work with the Botswana Defence Force to develop a HIV/ AIDS education, awareness and prevention program by the United States Department of Defense Naval Health Research Centers.
ResourceLinC had assembled a group of internationally recognized experts, researchers and educators to develop a program that was not only leading edge, but easy enough to adapt to meet the cultural and specific requirements of the Botswana Defence Force.
During our initial fact finding visit to Botswana, we were fortunate to find a very willing and committed group of military personnel. Commander Fisher was absolutely fantastic during our meeting with him and his Medical Support Staff. He promised us the full support of his organization, and we were not disappointed.
The contacts that were committed to us from his organization were:
Major General Oitsile, who was serving as the BDF representative to the National AIDS Coordinating Committee and the Chair of the Men’s Sector in Botswana.
Brigadier Toroyamodimo, Assistant Chief of Staff – Personnel
Colonel Matshwa, Director of Medical Corps
Major Meshack Mojela, Social Welfare Staff Officer
Marianyana Selelo, HIV/ AIDS Coordinator
These talented individuals and specialists represented a formidable team of professionals dedicated to delivering one of the best solution sets to address the education and awareness needs of the Botswana Defence Force.
The ResourceLinC and BDF teams bought together HIV and AIDS education specialists, HIV and AIDS researchers, communication specialists, in-country relationships at the highest levels and computer technology specialists create a HIV/ AIDS program loaded with leading edge content, innovative delivery and presentation models along with the ability to maximize education and information retention.
